Ireland has won new business from MessageBird, an Amsterdam-based cloud communications platform provider, which has committed to expand its European operations with a new office in Dublin.
Led by former Salesforce and Oracle executive, Roberto Marzo, the new office will employ up to 50 new positions over the next two years. The company currently has 250 employees, across its offices in Amsterdam, San Francisco, London, Hamburg, Sydney, Shanghai, and Singapore. Its choice to establish a large base in Dublin, therefore, is a significant commitment for the firm.
The Dublin office is MessageBird's 4th office in Europe, and its 8th outpost worldwide.
"Dublin's thriving tech start-up scene, and its highly skilled labour pool, make it an ideal location for MessageBird to further spread its wings in Europe."
"Businesses across Europe are looking to access cloud communications technology to create brand-building customer experiences for their customers. As our enterprise customer base across Europe has more than doubled in the last 18 months, we're excited to add additional resources in Dublin to meet this growing demand."
Founded in 2011, MessageBird is the Amsterdam-based cloud communications platform that enables developers and enterprises to easily connect with customers in virtually any corner of the planet via a growing number of channels from voice interactions to SMS, WhatsApp, WeChat, Facebook Messenger, Line, Telegram, and more.
Minister for Business, Enterprise, and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, said:
"I am delighted to welcome MessageBird."
"This is a reflection of our attractiveness for companies in the ICT sector. We have the skills and talent pool available to enable the company to grow and to embed their operations in Ireland."
Mary Buckley, IDA Ireland's Executive Director, said:
"International companies continue to be attracted to Ireland due to the ease of access to a talented workforce. Dublin is an internationally recognised technology hub where companies, including those like MessageBird, which are scaling their global operations at a rapid pace, can set up quickly and efficiently as they serve their expanding customer base internationally."
More companies are choosing Ireland as a base for operations due to its strong workforce, its leading reputation as a hub for excellence in technology, and top-class onshore tax regime.
Key to unlocking access to these tax reliefs and all the opportunities Ireland has to offer is establishing physical operations in Ireland. In particular, recent international tax reforms, which are being implemented globally, seek to ensure that a company's access to a country's tax regime must align with real economic substance in a territory.
